Privacy Policy

CarWidgets · Last updated 16 October 2026

CarWidgets ("the app", "we") is built to respect your privacy. This policy explains what data the app uses and how.

Optional account

You can choose Sign in with Apple or Google, or continue without signing in. Our Cloudflare service verifies the provider’s identity token and stores the provider’s account identifier and the date the account was created. CarWidgets does not receive your Apple or Google password. Your account identifier is also saved on your iPhone.

Data stored on your device

Your settings, car profiles, chosen sounds, saved places, and widget configurations are stored on your device. CarWidgets does not currently synchronize these settings through an account or iCloud. Device backups are managed separately by Apple and your device settings.

Location

With your permission, CarWidgets uses your location to save where you parked, show GPS speed while the app is open, provide weather and speed-limit information, and play a sound when you arrive at a place you've set. Dashboard values such as fuel, battery, range and odometer are configured manually; they are not read live from your vehicle. Standard widgets refresh on Apple's schedule. To get weather and speed-limit information for your area, location coordinates may be sent to Apple’s mapping services, Open-Meteo for weather, and the OpenStreetMap Overpass service for speed limits. Location is used only for these features — never to track or profile you — and you can turn it off anytime in iOS Settings.

AI sound creation

When you use "Create a sound", the text you type is sent to our AI sound provider, ElevenLabs, to generate the audio. Please don't include personal information in those prompts. ElevenLabs handles the request under its own privacy policy.

Music and permissions

If you connect Apple Music or Spotify, their services process searches and playback requests under their own policies. Spotify authorization and token refresh requests pass through our Cloudflare service; the app keeps a refresh token on your device so it can reconnect. You can disconnect Spotify in the app. YouTube searches and embedded playback use Google’s services. Contact access, microphone access and speech recognition are requested for the calling and dictation features you choose to use; permission can be changed in iOS Settings.

Purchases and legacy subscriptions

Garage Pass is an optional, one-time, non-renewing in-app purchase. Apple shows the current local price before purchase and processes payment — we never see your payment details. We use RevenueCat to help determine purchase and entitlement status; RevenueCat receives an app-generated identifier and transaction information for that purpose. Existing legacy CarWidgets Pro subscriptions, where applicable, are managed through your Apple Account settings. Use Restore Purchases in CarWidgets to restore recognized purchases. See Apple's and RevenueCat's privacy policies for details.

Analytics and attribution

We use PostHog’s EU service for app lifecycle events, onboarding steps, feature interactions and purchase outcomes, associated with a generated installation identifier and technical device information. RevenueCat processes subscription and transaction status. Apple AdServices and InfluTo help attribute app installs and subscriptions to campaigns or referrals; referral attributes can be associated with the RevenueCat customer identifier. These services help us understand app use and which campaigns led to installs or subscriptions.

Service providers

Cloudflare hosts our backend and stores optional account identifiers. Football scores are supplied by football-data.org. Available competitions and score timing depend on the provider; scores may be delayed, and Apple controls widget refresh. When a feature contacts an online service, that service also receives the network information needed to respond, such as an IP address. The providers named above process requests under their respective privacy policies.

Managing your data

You can change permissions in iOS Settings and remove locally saved places, sounds and configurations in the app. To request deletion of an optional account record or ask about analytics data, contact us at the address below. Removing app data does not cancel an Apple subscription; subscriptions are managed in your Apple Account settings.

Children

CarWidgets is not directed at children under 13.

Changes

We may update this policy from time to time; the "Last updated" date above will change accordingly.
